How to update the iPhone 13 system
Every so often Apple releases software updates, some of these updates are exclusively security updates and occasionally updates are released that include new functionalities, improvements or bug fixes and once a year a new version of the operating system is made available to users of a Apple iPhone 13.
Keeping your device updated is key to improving performance, security, and accessing new features. In this tutorial, we will explain how to manually update your Apple iPhone 13, how to schedule updates and configure automatic download and installation when connected to a WiFi network, while charging and locked, or overnight.
The iPhone 13 comes factory-installed with the iOS 15 operating system.
The latest version available for iPhone 13 is iOS 18, although minor versions of that operating system version and important security updates may have been released.

1- First step:
To access the Apple iPhone 13 settings, look for the gear icon on the home screen. If it is not visible, swipe down from the center of the home screen to open the system search and type "Settings".
2- Second step:
Scroll down through the settings menu until you find the "General" section. Tap to access it. It is the section with the icon of a white gear on a gray background.
3- Third step:
Within the general settings section of the iPhone 13, the second available option is "Software Update". Tap to access and check if there is any available update.
4- Fourth step:
You can check if you have automatic updates enabled, to access the update settings click on "Automatic updates".
5- Fifth step:
Within the automatic update options, there are several choices. It is recommended to have the "iOS Updates" section activated, which appears under "Automatically Download". By enabling it, your iPhone 13 will automatically download software updates when it is connected to a WiFi network and has sufficient battery.
6- Sixth step:
For greater security, you can enable the automatic installation of "Security responses and system files". This will automatically install the most important security updates while keeping the same version of the operating system. That is, without making visible changes to the system interface.
7- Seventh step:
If you want all software updates to be automatically installed on your iPhone 13 and not worry about it, check the "iOS Updates" option. Personally, I don't recommend having this option enabled because sometimes, Apple's software updates have bugs during the first few days. These bugs are fixed in later days, but it can be a big hassle if your iPhone 13 suddenly stops working properly and you have to wait for a second update.
8- Eighth step:
Go back to check if there is any update available to download or install. If so, you will see the buttons: "Update now" and "Update tonight" or "Download now" (the latter will appear if automatic downloads are disabled).
To start the download or installation immediately, press the corresponding button. You will be able to continue using your device until the process is complete, at which point a message will appear indicating that it is necessary to restart your iPhone 13.
If you prefer to install the update at night while the device is charging, note that it will restart automatically and you will have to re-enter the SIM card PIN and the unlock code.
Repeat the process every few months to keep your iPhone 13 updated.
