Screenshot without buttons on iPhone

Last update:

There are several reasons why you might want to set up screenshots on iPhone without using buttons. It is possible that some of the buttons are broken and you can continue using your phone but you cannot take screenshots with them or what is more common: you want to change the way you take screenshots to make it more comfortable.

For many people, pressing two buttons at the same time is not comfortable, either because they have small hands and iPhones are getting bigger or because being able to press both buttons simultaneously is very difficult and sometimes instead of taking a screenshot, what happens is that the volume is raised, or the iPhone is blocked, preventing the screen from being captured at that precise moment and which may not be repeated.

For this purpose, Apple launched a few years ago the possibility of taking screenshots by giving two or three touches on the back of the iPhone, using its sensors, the iPhone is capable of detecting these touches precisely and fulfilling the task that we have indicated to it. In this case, take a screenshot but it is possible to configure the touches on the back for many other functionalities.

Estimated time: 3 minutes.

Step 1:

Open the iPhone settings, it is the gear icon that you will see on the home screen. If you don't see it on the first screen, swipe to the right to find it on subsequent home screens or swipe down and use the search engine.

Step 6:

There are a multitude of actions that we can activate using the touches on the back of the iPhone, in this case within the “System” category we choose “Screenshot”.

Step 7:

Go back and test the screenshot by doing the two or three taps (depending on what you chose). A flash should be displayed on the screen and a thumbnail of the screen at the bottom left. If it hasn't worked, try again, at first it can be difficult to find the right cadence to take the screenshot with taps on the back of the iPhone.

As you have seen, it is very easy to configure this functionality and now you can try configuring the touches on the back of the iPhone to perform other functions such as activating the flashlight, muting, turning the volume up or down, activating the camera, opening the magnifying glass, activate Siri, open shortcuts or lock rotation.
